Biere De Mars is part of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Series of beers. I have to admit that a number of years ago before I really appreciated beer, I tried a New Belgium Fat Tire Ale at a party. I was excited. It was a beer with a bike on it, and everyone seemed to like it. I didn’t though – I thought that it tasted pretty bad to be honest. Since then I have always just looked away when seeing the New Belgium beers in the beer aisle. Jessica wanted me to pick up a seasonal spring beer to try out. I noticed the bottle and thought that I should give New Belgium a second chance.
Nice white head that settled down to about a half inch in height that lasted the entire time.
There was a subtle hint of fruit and citrus that was perfect. The first word that came out of my mouth was “fresh” when I smelled it for a few seconds.
Medium amber in color. This beer did not seem to be filtered at all so you could not see all the way through the glass.
This beer is surprising thick but not in a bad way. The beer had a very smooth and soft quality in my mouth which was extremely enjoyable.
This beer was a lot of fun to drink. With the recent sunny weather we have been having it was perfect. The combination of the spices and malts are prefect. There is a touch of sweetness in the middle of the sip with a a bitter bit near the end which really works well.

This is a great beer, both Jessica and I found it to be a remarkably refreshing beer. If you get a chance to pick one of these up do it!
